» undersolo - Supertramp and their backhanded genius
I really do love the group. I spent most of my childhood under the auspices of those records and I can still pinpoint moments in my life that draw upon memories of the music with an event. But I feel that the band was truly a victim of its own tendency towards smoothly constructed tunes and the era in which they came of age. It is very hard to listen to "Even in the Quietest Moments", "Crisis? What Crisis?" and (heaven help us all) "Breakfast in America" without wondering about what the band could now be doing in a studio without reliance on toothless production techniques and the sheen of the seventies climate.-- posted by undersolo
